The Meek One

Set in the 19th-century Russia, The Meek One, also known as A Gentle Spirit, is a retrospective account of an ill-fated marriage of a pawn- broker and a teen girl, who, as suggested at the beginning of the narrative, is now dead. But, is her death so sudden as it appears from her husband’s account? Wasn’t she dying every day in a loveless marriage? A poignant exploration of human psychology and the intricacies of relationships, The Meek One is a timeless work of literature.
